Economic Development Accountability and Results
NDPeople.org has worked to bring accountabilty and results - that benefit people and communities - from state and local economic development efforts. From 1999 to 2005 our campaign brought some better accountability processes to local economic development in Jamestown and Minot.

Our efforts helped bring enough pressure for accountability that in 2005 the North Dakota Legislative Assembly approved some reporting requirements for economic deveopment projects. It was a weak attempt. Attempts to just report wage levels achieved by taxpayer funded economic development projects were defeated by the majority because they said when it comes to jobs in North Dakota "beggars can't be chosers." See 2005 Scorecard.

In 2009, the audit report on the North Dakota Department of Commerce shows continuing lack of accountabilty.
